Latest News Town of Clarkdale Announces “Sustainable Clarkdale” The Town of Clarkdale is pleased to announce the overall results from a January 28th strategic planning meeting on the Clarkdale Sustainability Park (CSP) – the CSP is evolving into an initiative of “Sustainable Clarkdale”. A gathering of twenty-one people from the Town Council, Planning Commission, CSP Scoping Team, As the elements were discussed and presented, it became clear the group hopes for sustainability across the Town. A desire for a broader focus was apparent, with support for the continued pursuit of not only the CSP in a single location, but also other projects encompassing sustainable solutions across the Town. The mission of the CSP is still intact, and participants agreed that the mission fits with the focus for Sustainable Clarkdale – To Provide an Entrepreneurial Environment Rich in Innovative, Multi-Disciplinary Solutions, and Educational and Economic Opportunities, Resulting in a Vibrant and Viable Future. The degree and breadth of projects being proposed to, and explored by, the Town generated enthusiasm from the participants at the meeting. There was broad support for the Town to explore projects that the Town managed directly, as well as projects where the Town plays a facilitation role for businesses and other entities to explore sustainable projects. In defining both short-term and long-term success, the group looked for projects that fit within four categories: active water management, renewable energy, education, and communication. Of keen interest to the overall group was identifying sustainable funding sources for the Town and supporting Sustainable Clarkdale as a comprehensive economic development strategy. Emphasis was also placed on implementing community renewable energy generation and uses, and the development of a variety of plans such as those for water and wastewater management. A few of the many other ideas discussed included joining the Energy Star program as a community, developing sustainable health and wellness opportunities, maximizing the Town’s relationship with Yavapai College, supporting a sustainability curriculum throughout the schools (P-20+) and engaging other Arizona universities in Sustainable Clarkdale initiatives. Of utmost importance was the continued engagement of Clarkdale citizens and businesses as Sustainable Clarkdale continues to move forward
